Estimate what your deck should cost using real deck-building pricing — size, material, height, railing, and stairs. When you're ready for a number you can act on, DeckQuoteTM gives you one estimate from the actual pricing of the deck professional serving your area.

About $69 per sq. ft. installed, based on typical U.S. deck-building costs.
This calculator uses national averages. A DeckQuoteTM estimate uses one local pro's own pricing and goes only to them.
Size is the biggest factor: material and labor both scale with square footage, so a 320 sq. ft. deck costs roughly twice a 160 sq. ft. deck of the same build.
Material changes the installed rate substantially. Pressure-treated wood is the budget option; cedar sits above it; entry-level and premium composite and PVC cost more up front and less to maintain.
Height and access matter more than homeowners expect. A deck more than 3 ft. off the ground needs deeper footings, taller posts, and code-required railings, and a backyard a crew can't reach with equipment adds labor hours.
Railing and stairs are priced separately from the deck surface — railing by the linear foot and each staircase by its rise — which is why two decks of the same size can differ by thousands.
